Our computer has been in the shop for a week. It spontaneously died and took all my thousands and millions of files with it. Brilliant as I am, I hadn't really backed up all that much. Such a lovely waste of time it was for me to put all 1000+ CDs worth of music in the computer. It's all corrupted now and good for absolutely nothing except giving me a coronary. Remember a few months ago when I spent countless hours backing up my two massive livejournals? Well, a ton of that, possible all of it, is recovered, but in no particular order. The thought of dealing with that brings me right back to the first sentence of this post. Glad I've spent my time on such worthwhile projects.
Lost a lot of good pictures too, including many from my last trip to Houston, my road trip with Taylor, and many others that I know aren't there but can't remember what they are just yet. No doubt I'll wake up in the middle of the night knowing exactly which ones they are, and they'll probably be the ones I wanted to lose the least.
Also particularly lovely is that I seem to have lost my budget for this entire year. Never thought to back it up anywhere or post it here, or anything that would have been practical or useful. I'm kicking myself now. Jake and I had a knock-down drag-out fight over money last week, the day after the computer died, and what do you know? All my financial records were ON THIS COMPUTER. All gone. I was so proud and content all year knowing that I had everything organized, under control, taken care of, planned, etc. Now it's all gone.
Maybe when Jake gets home tonight he can make more sense of this. Perhaps it will be better that way since he has no sentimental attachment to anything that is or was saved here. I've been working on this for a few hours and I'm about to lose it.
In other news, there is no other news. I just don't give a shit about anything right now.
