Typical debate about the Stitch-n-Bitch craze over at [livejournal.com profile] knitting.

I can't say I care either way anymore. I used to have strong feelings that books like this are corrupting the way people view knitting, but I can't even recall my old rationale anymore.

I actually sat at Barnes and Noble a few nights ago reading the second SnB book and enjoyed it immensely. I have serious math issues, and even though I theoretically understand all the math needed in knitting, it's the handiest thing in the world to have it all spelled out so clearly in one place. I didn't buy it that night, but I'm planning to soon. I don't love all the patterns the way some people do, but there are a few gems that I would love to make if I could get my attention span to cooperate. I mean, really, how long can I go on without knitted fishnets?! Not too much longer. And the fuzzy slippers with the eyes...even Jake loves those.

I don't know. I tend to find myself drawn to grown up patterns most of the time, but sometimes I just want a fun, silly, small project from which I can get instant gratification and a few laughs. No harm in that. And can you really have too many cool accessories? I think not.

SnB Nation is hilarious. I love the writing style SO much. It's been a long time since I looked at SnB the first, but I remember not buying it because it was aimed too much at beginners.

But whatever. I'm surprised there hasn't been utter warfare about that post.
