But this is so cheap compared to using disposables! To buy disposables for one baby for two years, it's something like $2k (I should look up those numbers again). And then you have to do it all over again for every kid. These will last several kids. So there's a bit of leeway to buy fun diapers. But yeah...it all adds up.

My mum had it right. She had a diaper service. They brought clean diapers and took away the dirty ones. My brother and I were both allergic to disposables. I got more rashes from changing Bit than she ever did.

The ideal is to have enough diapers so that you only have to wash every other day. It doesn't seem like a big deal at all, but that might be because I've just stopped doing all non-diaper laundry. It's worked out rather well. (except for the ever-growing pile of dirty clothes, and the rewearing of clothes several times...)

Heh. I had Jay's work clothes to do (he was working a couple of jobs at a time then, too), as well as Bit's. Me? I lived in sarongs and robes most of the time so I wouldn't have to bother. heh.

I think I mentioned to you before that I grumbled about having to deal with bottles, as well, because I thought keeping my breasts clean would have been simpler than sterilizing nipples constantly.

I would have probably held off on ordering huge amounts of sized diapers... Bit doubled in size over a 24 hour period, it seemed. With the disposables, there were literally sizes we bought too big for her, that she outgrew before one package was gone.
The good ol' fashioned one-size fits all, even if their ugly? I'd have been all about those. I may not even have noticed they leaked, I swear that kid could leak through concrete at times. *grin*
