Before I get on with the usual bitching, I think it's important to take a minute and write out the things that I am thankful for and that are going well, so as to maintain a certain balance, or appearance thereof.

-Jake. Very thankful for Jake. He keeps me sane.

-Topaz. Best baby in the world.

-My mom. I have a good relationship with her (from afar) and she's always there when I need to talk.

-Jake has a good job making decent money. He keeps Topie in expensive diapers and me in paid lj status.

-I have a lovely car that is waiting to be picked up from the shop already!

-I live in the nicest apartment complex in the area, which I love because it is so pretty.

-We have lots of options in every direction.

-Jake's mom is very close by.

-We're well-fed (possibly too well-fed?) and healthy.

-We're almost totally out of debt. Very soon.

-Our retirement fund is coming along nicely.

-We don't have any enemies that we know of.

-The weather is gorgeous and we live in a beautiful part of the world.

-High speed internet.

-All our needs are met, and all I really have to whine about is money for frivolous and not-quite-necessary things.

-Haba toys.

So that's a good start. In that light, things look pretty good.

Now on to the bitching. I think in writing that list I forgot half of it. Maybe I should do that more often.

I'm drinking my now-daily grande iced latte from Starbucks. I have got to stop this. It's an addiction. Again. I seem to recall having this problem last spring. And the spring before. And before...

I haven't officially eaten yet today. What in the hell kind of food should I be buying so that I can eat during the day?? I never have anything handy except bread. I don't WANT to eat a lot of bread. Bread = fat.

Tomorrow I'm taking Madge out for lunch. Oh yippee. Her endurance for bitching outlasts mine by hours. I expect to come home and collapse afterward tomorrow. I don't know how anyone can bitch SO MUCH.

Talked to our upstairs neighbor today. Met the yappy dog. A tiny little Maltese, so adorable. I would totally get one of those. Apparently, he hears Topaz a lot. That's okay, because I hear him peeing a lot. That's one thing about apartment life I could do without.

So here's the thing. Should we just buy a house here and settle for a while, or move somewhere else? Who knows.

Now that Topaz sits up on her own, I have more time to do household chores. Today I set her down in the middle of a pile of toys, and vacuumed the apartment, cleaned the kitchen somewhat, and picked stuff up in general. Not too bad.
