Feb. 20th, 2006 02:25 pmI AM BANNING MYSELF FROM BUYING BABY STUFF AND DIAPERS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
We had a nice lunch today. I made sandwiches and went to meet Jake at work. Then we went to the rail trail and had a half hour walk. It's so nice out, just freezing. But yay for sunshine.
Topie's hat fits now. Before she was born, I bought a ton of organic cotton stuff for her, but all the hats were huge on her. I grabbed one out of the car when we went for our walk today, and it fits her perfect. It will be too small very soon, actually. She's growing!
Yesterday was a rough day. Jake's mom wanted to go to Syracuse, so we all decided to go. We got to the Carousel mall and were only there maybe ten minutes when Topaz started screaming. And I mean SCREAMING. Inconsolable, nonstop, agonizing, loud screaming. I went into the lounge area of the ladies' room, but got so many glares there that I left. I went out to the car, and she cried about 2.5 hours solid. She looked like she was being tortured. It was horrible. So I told Jake and his mom to go do what they were going to do, and I would sit with Topie in the car. Finally she calmed down and we went home. It was hugely exhausting.
I have two ideas what might be causing this. The frequency of these fits has decreased since I went off dairy/corn/chocolate. So that's good. I suspect this is either soy or some component of Thai food, since those are the only infrequent parts of my diet. I only buy soy milk once in a great while, and have a tiny bit with either cereal or coffee, and every time I've bought it, I've suspected it might be causing her trouble, even though Jeanette's analysis didn't note soy as one of her problem foods. So what I'm going to do is not eat soy or Thai for a few days, then try soy milk and see what happens. It's horrible, but it's the only way to get to the bottom of this. I'm hoping it's the soy and not the Thai, because I love Thai and don't really care for soy anyway.
I have some stained diapers on the back porch in the sun. Hopefully the stains will fade. It's been bugging me.
Jake and I have decided that our first official family vacation will be to PEI late summer. YAY PLANNING! YAY TRIP! YAY PEI!

Date: 2006-02-20 08:13 pm (UTC)pinheads are also cool, as far as one-size diapers go, but they're not always lined with OV. and i love muttaqins, i'm just not fond of the snap-in soakers, which are great for drying quickly, but a pain to fold (in thirds) and then get into the diaper. or maybe i'm just picky, but anyway...those are really the only ones i have experience with, and after hearing about your swaddlebees experience, i won't be trying them.
oh yeah, and kindhearted woman fitteds (if you can get your hands on them) are fantastic, also. they sell them at a local store in town, but they only seem to have them in large and we would need mediums (and unless this child is exceptionally huge i am hoping that he would never fit into large diapers)

Date: 2006-02-21 06:19 pm (UTC)sosdiapers.com is her site and i don't like the terry fitteds because they're not as absorbant as OV. i think i linked to the KHW site from diaperpin.com once, but i've never seen any of her diapers in stock.
