Topie weighs 17 pounds. Incidentally, that's 4 ounces shy of the targeted doubled birth weight by six months. Instead of congratulating or thanking me for doing such a good job nourishing Topie with my own body all day and much of the night while he sleeps undisturbed, he gives me a hard time about not remembering to take my vitamins every day.

Because I have a real history of being a bad, neglectful mother. I always put myself first. Sometimes I forget I even have a baby. Most of the time, actually. Wait--do I have a baby?

So really, no mother's day gift will make up for the periodic shit like that.

I give up.

She's 26+ inches long, which is a good jump from the 21 inches she measured at birth.

Topaz screamed during the entire appointment. She wanted to eat the stethoscope, and the doctor explained to her that she could eat the tongue depresser instead, but dammit, she wanted to eat the stethoscope. So that was fun. No problem with the vaccine issue. We'll reevaluate at the two-year point. I'm very relieved. I don't think she was happy about it, but she didn't argue.

It's hot out. Not like Houston hot, but hot enough so that the car isn't fit to put a baby in until I've had the doors open and AC blowing for a few minutes. I can't imagine having a baby in a climate like that.

I just took my fucking vitamins.

Topie is sleeping in the cosleeper. I should probably be doing something more productive but oh well. I did just put up Topie's diapers on a makeshift clothesline outside. So that's something I guess.

Ugh. That's all I have to say right now. I have emails to reply to but I'm so socially inept I never know what to say.

I teach my last class of the semester at 3:30. I'm planning to hit the Vestal Starbucks after that, when it's all over but the grading... like around 5. Not productive, but if you're feeling like going outside or something...

Yay for a doctor who doesn't decide to be a pain in the butt about vaccinating early and often!

Jake called earlier and wants to go for a walk and get dinner around then. Maybe tomorrow?

Sounds good right now. I'm mostly going to be looking for a comfortable place to grade then still, so...

I hate to agree with Jake but my posture suffered a bit b/c I periodically forgot to take my vitamins. I also think I might be dumber.

Also, since you don't have a kid and all, after you fill yourself full of coffee, let's go out and party for the rest of the week. I'll bring the dope. You bring the booze.

I do need to be more vigilant about taking my vitamins. But it does hurt me far more than Topie, since she's just basically a 17 pound tapeworm. She gets what she needs.

Great plan. I'm thinking we should also try some drunk driving, since we have no one to live for.

She was 8/10, and 21 inches long. I need to get soem friends with girl babies the same age. All of you have boys, so now I'm inadvertently comparing Topie's measurements to all these boys, and she seems like a real shrimp.

she's not, though.
she is growing fabulously!

zachery doubled his BW at 8 weeks, avery was closer to 10 weeks but i have milk on steroids or some shit.

have you seen that recent article about how weight charts are based on formula anyway and for 40 years doctors have been misinforming breastfeeding mothers and worrying them, even suggesting they switch to formula just to finally realize/admit that most breastfed childrenn gain weight less rapidly than formula fed ones.

YES! I forgot to show jake that article. He's the one who immediately pointed out that her weight isn't double her birth weight.

Anyone who looks at this kid knows she's doing just fine. Her chubby little legs are all the evidence I need :)

You MUST have super steroid milk! That's just crazy. You could sell it on the black market :P
