Have discovered many things today in my rambles.

What I thought all this time was some sort of wild geranium was really the common buttercup. This is stupid, because I knew what the flowers were but never bothered to really notice the leaves. The leaves were what made me think they were a geranium, but today i realised THEY ARE THE SAME PLANT. Okay, one mystery solved. Also, learned that buttercups are poisonous, so don't go eating any.

An abundance of red clover plants about to bloom. Get ready, Taylor...

I've been waiting for what makes up the majority of our wild flora to bloom so I can identify it. I knew it had to be a vetch but didn't think the leaves were quite right for deer pea vetch, which i knew well in TX. I finally spotted a couple of blooms and they are GORGEOUS. Pale pink and white, about an inch across, and I'm pretty sure they are Crown Vetch.

Also identified from yesterday. Common Speedwell.

Came upon a patch of wild berry plants in bloom. They look like blackberries but can't find them in my books.

I collected a large bunch of peppergrass after having discovered in A Dyer's Garden that peppergrass makes a lovely bright yellow dye for yarn. And to think I have tons of it right outside! So it's drying in the bedroom probably until I get back from TX and have time to use it. I would do it right now but I don't have everything I need for it, namely a large pot solely for dyeing, and mordant.

Also found YARROW about to bloom. This place is paradise, really.
