Very annoyed. Topie didn't sleep all night. Finally around 9something am, she fell asleep with me holding her in bed. We slept for a couple of hours before the alarm went off and I had to rush to her pediatrician appointment. Now she won't sleep. Yay.

She weighs 12 lbs 11 oz. I thought it would be more. She's 24 inches long.

I have no idea why she can't write me a prescription for this thrush. She told me to ask MY doctor, as though I HAVE one. I called Jeanette, so maybe she'll call me back with some magic solution.

On my own, however, I have made yet another executive decision. I have this Nystatin liquid to give her for thrush, but it's so nasty and sticky, and she spits it all out, and I've heard it may or may not work anyway, and has several unpleasant side effects, so I'm not giving it to her. Screw it. The grapefruit seed extract was the only thing that helped us both, so I'm going back to that. The only catch is that it has to be administered HOURLY, which is freaking impossible. But since I'm almost never asleep nowadays, it might be easier. I think it's getting really uncomfortable for her, since she keeps clicking her tongue. I have GOT to get rid of this. I bought a bottle of this stuff called Triple Yeast Defense, and I'm now taking three of them twice a day, which is what they say is the maximum dosage. So I'm doing topical and systemic treatment, and I'm bound and determined to do it hourly even if I have to set an alarm for ever hour and just wake up for it. Fuck this.

Did you try imperial violet or whatever the heck it's called? I read someplace that that stuff is like- the end all be all death to yeast.

gentian violet. I've done two separate rounds of it, to no avail. I would just keep at it indefinitely, but apparently prolonged use (longer than about 5 days) can cause sores in the baby's mouth, which would keep her from eating. Even my pediatrician told me it was foolproof. Today she said the opposite, that there are new strains of candida that are tougher than the gentian violet.

Now we're going to try homeopathics, even though I don't have much confidence in that.

We're actually having some success now! Grapefruit seed extract, applied to both of us HOURLY. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be totally gone.
