In one of my beading magazines there's a pattern for knitting a bead necklace. I'm itching to give it a go but it uses tiny needles and fairly intricate looking stitches and besides I haven't knitted anything since 1986.

My grandma taught me when I was about 7. At least, she taught me the bare essentials, and then I bought a great book and taught myself the rest. There are some GREAT yarn stores in your area (I think I've been to all of them!) and you could get lessons there.

I've only done one bracelet like that. It's teeedious. Very. I would like to try it again though. I have so many nice beads that need to be used. If you try it, post a picture!

There are some fabulous ones in Santa Fe and Taos. I'll have to try to find them online. I'm almost positive we stopped at a couple when we were there. But that was a few years ago, so who knows.

taos is pretty far away and i don't make it to santa fe very often.

i've called fiesta's before and they don't carry wool yarn.
village wools is the place i can't find even though i know that part of town like the back of my hand (haven't tried hard enough, i guess...it could be a very small hole in the wall type of place) and i think i've seen b's. thanks for those links ;)

i would take a class or go to some group meeting but i don't know when and i don't know who would watch the bebe.

fiesta doesn't carry wool yarn?? I know they USED to, at least. That sucks. The one in Taos has amazing wool yarn. I've used up the small stash I brought back from there, but it would be perfect for soakers. They do have a website, but it's always in progress or something.

Of course. How could I forget? I can't take a sewing class because who would watch Topie? So frustrating. There are some good books for learning, but that depends entirely on how well you learn out of books in general.

well i'm pretty sure it was fiesta's that i called. then again, it was a male that answered and he sounded young, so he might have acted like most young males i know...and that is if they can't see it or don't know what you're talking about they just go the easy route.

if i'm ever up in the taos area (and driving up to colorado this year when my dad moves there seems like a perfect excuse) i'll check their yarn stores out.

i have several books and even a DVD. of all the books, one is very good and i have yet to watch the DVD but the online videos still confuse me when it comes to the purl stitch. that's the only thing i don't get by watching that way - but i haven't exactly had time to just sit down and focus, you know. i trust that it will be easy once i get down to it.
